The AFETTEK Platform was established as a civil initiative aimed at preventing the devastating impacts of disasters and emergencies and reducing the effects of those that are inevitable. Currently, the platform brings together 115 legal entities, including universities, research centers, industrial zones, technology centers, NGOs, clusters, foundations, and private sector companies. The founders are working to transform the platform into a foundation with legal status in the near future.

To mark the first anniversary of the Search Conference held on March 25, 2023, a panel titled "Disasters and Technologies Linked to Climate, Agriculture, and the Environment" was organized on March 28, 2024, hosted by Başkent University. During the opening session of the panel, Prof. Dr. Hakan ÖZKARDEŞ, Vice Rector of Başkent University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet HABERAL, Founder of Başkent University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmet YOZGATLIGİL, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, shared their remarks. Additionally, Prof. Dr. İhsan SABUNCUOĞLU, Rector of TED University and General Coordinator of the AFETTEK Platform, presented the work and progress achieved within the platform.

The panel session, which was attended by 135 participants from 38 different institutions, including public institutions, universities, private sector organizations, and NGOs, was moderated by Ömür DEMİR KIZILARSLAN, the General Coordinator of the platform. The panelists, including Prof. Dr. Mikdat KADIOĞLU, Director of the Disaster Management Institute at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Çağatay ÇEBİ, Project Coordinator for FAO Turkey’s Emergency and Resilience Program, and Hanzade SARIÇİÇEK, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkey Technology Development Foundation, shared their work and insights on climate-related disasters and technologies.
